- Be social! Inviting your neighbours in halls to your flats pre-drinks especially during freshers week is a great way to get to know the students in your halls.
- Join your University hall groups & chats to stay in the know, people often plan nights out & flat parties on there.
- Sign up to various sports clubs & societies! This is hands down one of the best ways to meet you new people.
- Actually go to your sports club or societies meetings / training. Don’t just sign up, as other members are likely to be people you have something in common with.
- Exchange numbers or Facebook / Instagram contact information with your housemates, course mates, hall mates etc.
- Be active in group discussions or any group work project and get to know your course mates. Invite course mates to any of your pre-drinks and link up.
- Learn a language. Most Universities have a variety of language courses on offer at discounted rates for students, so if it’s something you’ve always fancied Universities a great time to give it a go!
- Taking it in turns to cook at your flat can be fun and good bonding and also cooking for a group can be cheaper than cooking on your own. Things like pesto pasta, and curry are great and easy to cook for a group!
- If you don’t fancy competitive sports, why not give football five aside a go, or have a look out for sports classes at your sports club. You can always set up a team with just your friends or course mates.
- Join the gym. It’s surprising how quickly a familiar face in the gym can become a friend or even training buddy. Remember, its freshers and there are many people looking for that training partner to help push each other and keep each other motivated.
